(According to Indian Harbor Yacht Club)

Some highlights from the 2019 WOWLIS Supper Series Finale at Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich, CT. Note that the finale is now held as part of the Lorna Regatta.

In 2013, at the winter women's sailing program leaders' meeting at the Pequot Yacht Club, it was discovered that the WOW East Group was holding a sailing/supper series much like the WOW West Group, so it was decided to hold a Finals combining the two groups.

But where to hold such an event? Alix Hahn from American Yacht Club said to Karen Lau, "Indian Harbor Yacht Club, because you guys have the best food!" So it was decided to inaugurate a WOW Supper Series Finals event the second Tuesday in July, and to include more than just sailors by offering spectator boats and a "supper" to all supporters of women's sailing. The ‘finale’ event has been changed (unofficially) to the second day of sailing for the ‘Lorna’ regatta - all are invited to attend the brunch.

The event was well attended with all the western clubs represented—a total of 17 ladies attending despite the inclement weather! The Riverside sailors read the room and opted to pass on racing for the evening and instead played nautical trivia emceed by our sailing director, Samantha Labuzetta. The ringer team of Beth Eaton (OGYC) and Ellen Quinn (RYC) won a bottle of white wine for their nautical knowledge!

SUPPER SERIES - Sail Around & Supper

Thursday, May 29, 2025 (WOW WEST)

Indian Harbor Yacht Club WOW Rep Lili Tarbell reports for 2025: IHYC's Supper Series "Sail Around" turned into something quite different due to the inspired thinking of Indian Harbor's own Karen Lau. There was nooooo wind. Sound familiar? And nooooo worries. We pivoted! got out on the water and had a really fun historical tour around the harbor in the IHYC launch before spending delightful time together over a fantastic dinner - the lobster was tops - prepared by IHYC's new chef. And the company? Nothing less than splendid.

First place went to Sara Keller and Michele Brendel of Riverside Yacht Club; EJ Haskell and Renee Potter of Old Greenwich Yacht Club finished second; and third place went to Nancy Seligson and Anne Stark of LYC. Racing was followed by dinner and socializing on Larchmont’s porch overlooking the boat-filled harbor. It was a delightful evening!

The weather was challenging with dense fog but gave the sailors a perfect breeze for comfortable sailing. An intrepid group of 7 sailors enjoyed a short cruise near the Norwalk Islands on Liberty, NYC’s club owned and managed Juneau. Another group enjoyed sailing in an Ideal 18. Post sailing provided for a cozy cocktail hour followed by dinner in the club house. It was a wonderful evening to greet old friends and meet new ones.

AMERICAN YACHT CLUB
SUPPER SERIES - Race & Supper

Wednesday, June 11, 2025 (WOW EAST)

American Yacht Club Supper Series WOW Rep Susana Lagunas reports for 2025: The fifth WOW (Women on the Water) sailing and dinner was held at American Yacht Club on a breezy Wednesday evening. Sixteen sailors of all experience levels came together for a spirited night on the water.

The evening kicked off with a short coaching session from our sailing director before we headed out for a coached race. The course featured offset buoys and a gate, making for a fun and tactical challenge in the windy conditions.

After racing, everyone gathered for a debrief to discuss strategy, ask questions and share takeaways. The learning continued ashore with a relaxed and social dinner. It was a fantastic evening of sailing, growth, and connection—everything WOW is about.

SUPPER SERIES - Race & Supper

Tuesday, June 17, 2025 (WOW WEST)

Old Greenwich Yacht Club WOW Rep Beth Eaton reports for 2025: The WOW OGYC sailors hosted their Supper Series on June 17th. We were excited to see the perfect easterly breeze, but the fog was so thick that Race Committee PRO EJ Haskell was forced to cancel racing. Truly bizarre to have such a nice breeze while being socked in by fog moving in and out! Not to be deterred, we all chatted, caught up, and had dinner together with friends from American, Indian Harbor and Larchmont. We had a great time!

We hosted 23 women from Pequot Yacht Club, Norwalk Yacht Club, Stamford Yacht Club and Housatonic Boat Club. The weather was beautiful, but the wind did not cooperate. We decided not to bob around with luffing sails and went straight to the cocktail portion of the program!

We had a lovely supper on our dining deck. The fun lasted into the dark!
